A friend of mine has a 3D printer in his classroom and everytime we visit I am amazed with the things he is doing with this in the classroom. I finally decided that this is something I have to have in my classroom, but as always the problem is that a 3D printer is not cheap. The district I work in though has a foundation that provides grants for bigger projects that you would like to implement in your classroom. I went about and did my research and found the 3D printer that I thought would be best for my classroom. The next step was to sit down and fill out all my information which basically meant putting all of my hopes and dreams down on paper. When I finally completed the application and submitted it I thought there was no way in the world they were going to fund this project. I was shocked when a few weeks later the foundation director showed up in my classroom and told me that my grant was chosen.
Today was the day I was presented the big check in front of the community. It was amazing to have my idea validated and now I can't wait to see what the 3D printer can do to enhance the learning in my classroom. The best part of the day was that I was finally able to cross of getting a big check from my bucket list.
